Last week all we heard about was Barcelona and Manchester United and thankfully the game was better than advertised which rarely happens. Barcelona is the best club team in the world and their ability to pass, move, create has rarely been seen before. The YouTube of the Week is the highlights of the Champions League Final...Enjoy a few more times!
Only in High School Soccer...Watch closely, a little distraction leads to a goal on this free kick...
Last week in Scotland, a fan ran onto the pitch to punch Celtic Manager Neil Lennon but this past weekend in Mexico the outcome was a lot a crazier. A fan came onto the field near the end of Morelia’s 3-0 win over Cruz Azul to shake hands with a player from Cruz Azul. The melee that ensued included a fan being kicked, punches thrown and a goalkeeper doing his best impersonation of Zidane headbutt.
An oldie but a goodie and the cow has game! Congrats to Mary M for sending in this video, check your mail for your Soccer Banter T-shirt.
This week's 'YouTube of the Week' was sent in by Meabh D. and has a unique story beyond just the clip. 18-month old Baerke van der Meij became an internet star when his dad posted a video of him chipping balls into a box. The local professional club, VVV-Vento, is currently in 17th position in the 18-team Dutch Eredivisie Table and badly in need of good press, signed the young boy to a 10-year symbolic contract. If his game continues like this, he will have a better chance of playing in top division of Dutch soccer than the current players on VVV-Vento.
