The Big One

The recent Carling Cup and FA Cup semifinals between the two teams were big events, but even they will be rendered as insignificant in comparison to Monday’s game.  It is the biggest Manchester derby ever, and only the game in 1974 when that Denis Law goal relegated United comes close in importance.  If United were to win the game and then the title it would erase the bitter memories of their 1-6 loss to City at Old Trafford.  This is a game that could go either way and as always in big games the first goal will be crucial.  United are capable of going to the Etihad and getting a result and the collective experience of their players might prove decisive.  City have the players up front to trouble United and who would bet against Carlos Tevez having a major say in the outcome?  There will be goals, there will be drama and someone other than the usual big names can make himself a United or City legend.

Prediction: 2-2 Draw
