In a sinister way, many Manchester United fans appear to be enjoying David Moyes' fraught beginning as manager of their club. His failure to capture a creative midfielder during the summer and appearing to have to settle for his former beau Maroune Fellaini, has seen many supporters spit venom from their soapbox towards the new coach after just four games, that's four. FOUR!
Granted, paying $6 million more than they had to for Fellaini and apparently not being interested in Ozil, some level of hostility was always going to surface, but it comes with great irony when you consider his predecessor took four and a half years before he won his first trophy. The great man himself even poignantly said in his farewell speech at Old Trafford last May, "it's now your job to back the new manager." The Messiah must be shaking his head in disbelief on whatever golf course he's on right now.
Despite missing out on that flair player in the middle they so obviously need, it's important to be aware that this same group of players won the Premier League last season at a canter. Manchester City have supposedly strengthened, but are Negredo and Jotevic better than Ballotelli and Tevez? Chelsea look the bigger threat, but they too have issues of their own, having to look to a 32 year old, Samuel Eto'o, to solve their striking woes - who knows if he's the player he once was.

Fellaini may not be the intricate defense splitter like Ozil, Fabregas or Modric, but he's undoubtedly going to be an asset to the squad. A physical presence in midfield is something that has also been missing for a while. The Belgian thrives on hand to hand combat and will surely provide the back four more protection than the passenger Cleverley, which may even give Carrick a license to get forward more, a player who does have the ability to create.
Yes the overpaying for Fellaini was certainly a gross form of mismanagement at some level, but some supporters are acting like it was their own money they had to pay for him. Considering the vitriol most Red Devils fans have toward the owners, you'd think that they'd actually be pleased that they had to fork out the extra $6million for him......
So it's far from doom and gloom at the Theatre of Dreams and it's time most United fans woke up and stopped sulking like a boy who's lost his ball and remember how the club got to where they are today. It didn't happen overnight.
