Football with a Sartorial Bent

Any football fan claiming they’re not into kit culture is a liar. Sure, we obsess over formations, tactics and transfer gossip, but one of the simple pleasures in the run up to a new season is the release of new club uniforms. Am I wrong?
I’ve been following English football since the late 80’s, when kit culture truly took off. My first replica was Liverpool’s away jersey from the 1989/90 championship season, bought in a damp caravan in Norwich. EPL Preview & Predictions

As the calendar turned to August, it made soccer fans around the world quite happy, as another season of the English Premier League is about to kick-off. Last season Manchester United was able to hold off Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal to win it's 19th Championship in the top flight of English football. This year the usual suspects will be battling for the title, but as always the excitement sometimes is found in which teams will be relegated. This year, Norwich City, Swansea City and Queens Park Rangers all joined the Show, by being promoted from the Championship. Continue Reading
LFC: A Different View

Ian Rush recently gave an interview in which he explained how Kenny Dalglish had transformed Liverpool and was on the way to restoring the club to its former glory. This was the umpteenth time we’ve read this very same refrain coming from one of Dalglish’s former team-mates from the Anfield of the glorious eighties. Scarcely a day goes by when one of them isn’t trotted out to offer the (shocking) opinion that their old pal is doing a great job and will soon have Liverpool conquering Europe again. Fabian Scores vs. Barca
In a busy night of soccer in the United States, Marco Fabian stole the show with two unbelievable goals against Barcelona. Chivas Guadalajara trailed 1-0 at half-time after David Villa scored the opening goal in the fourth minute, but the Mexican side scored four second half-goals to defeat the best club side in the world.
